As we continue in Isaiah's prophecy, Isaiah takes us on a relational journey between the LORD God and Israel. Specifically, Israel stopped recognizing the unique place they had with the LORD because they put everything ahead of Him. Indeed, they even stopped calling Him by His name, LORD. People today do the same thing and they miss the opportunity to serve Him as LORD. When God is the LORD, it changes everything. There is an intimacy in knowing God by name, The Name, or as Orthodox Jewish people say, Ha Shem. Orthodox Jews respect the LORD so much they will not even say LORD, but instead say Ha Shem (the Name). Israel in Isaiah's time made everything but the LORD, their lord, and that is the point of this section. Is He LORD or is He God, to you? There is a difference and in this session we discuss it.
