The prophet Isaiah reveals God's judgment and salvation. He understands that God is a God of mercy, grace, longsuffering, and compassion. Though God will chasten his own, He will also bring restoration, forgiveness, and healing (43:2; 43:16-19; 52:10-12). The Book of Isaiah foretells of Jesus, the Messiah, suffering for sin, to become the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). The Book of Isaiah is an admonishment for Christians to love and obey God with their heart, and not just put on the “appearance of righteousness.” Isaiah's primary desire was that those who heard and read his words would be convicted to turn from wickedness and to turn to God for forgiveness and healing. There are encouragements for Christian living throughout this rich study.
