This message gives a Bible basis for rejecting the false claims of Contemporary Christian Music. Traces the history of CCM from its blues, jazz and rock & roll roots and shows how this music contributes to licentiousness and carnality among those who use it. Available as a video with numerous graphic illustrations from Way of Life Literature.

Great Sermon! Very powerful sermon. Pastor is absolutely correct. Church worship isn't to be concert pperformance to showcase people's musical skills. It's supposed to be for God only.

Rock Music: Songs of Rebels This sermon shows that rock music is really the songs of rebels. This means that other branches of rock music like rap, country, jazz, pop, and blues reflect the same rebellion against righteous authority. Worth noting Ecclesiastes 7:5 in times like these where rebellious rock music is glorified, even by the vast majority of churches today. It is better to listen to the rebuke of the wise than to the song of fools (song of rebels).

CCM: Music for 'Christian' Rebels CCM music is music for churchgoing "Christian" rebels. While blues, jazz, pop, and country music are not centered around violence as certain styles of rock and rap music are, one cannot change the sexually promiscuous image of blues, jazz, pop, and country music. If rock music was founded upon rebellion from the beginning, so was CCM music.
Unlike today's CCM music, the Old Protestant Hymns did not promote rebellion, but promoted Jehovah as The Righteous True God.

Liberal spells rebel! One cannot spell rebel without spelling liberal.

Great Sermon! Blues, jazz, rock, rap, and pop music as well as many other styles of non-classical music are all expressions of rebellion, aka being a rebel. It is clearly reflected in their music.
Unfortunately, today's contemporary liberal churches are encouraging this very form of rebellion. The results are rather troubling.

A Very Thorough Series I also recommend Matthew Pilch's 2-part series Is CCM Biblical? and H. T. Spence's series on Music and the Endtimes. Three great speakers.

Eye opening sermon! Any one who is truly concerned with the kind of music that god wants his children to listen, should give some of his/her time to listen to what pastor david cloud has to say in this tremendously insightful sermon. I just wish some of our church leaders came back to the word of god and all its values and priciples for sound christan living and stopped beign imitators of things of the world that god never intended for his church.
David W. Cloud is founder and director of Way of Life Literature, a 29-year-old Fundamental Baptist missionary publishing ministry. Brother Cloud was saved in 1973 at age 23, and the Lord gave him a burden to communicate the truths of God's Word via the printed page. Within six...
