In verses 16-18, Paul closes with a benediction and adds a personally handwritten message to authenticate his epistle. Although he used secretaries in the writing of his letters, he often penned a final greeting or benediction in his own hand. By doing so he also reminded the readers of his apostolic authority which was never to be contradicted in the church.
