This short sermon excerpt was taken from the Doctrines of Grace Series at Princess Chapel Church in Ashland, KY. This message was given by Pastor, Douglas Salyer.
This message deals with the doctrine of Irresistible Grace or Effectual Grace.
Irresistible Grace is the Reformed doctrine that states that when God calls His elect into salvation that they cannot resist. God offers to all people a general call, or sometimes referred to as the external call. But to the elect God extends an internal call, and it cannot be resisted. This call is by the Holy Spirit who works in the hearts and minds of the elect to bring them to repentance and faith by the power of regeneration, this is called the new birth; whereby they willingly and freely come to God. Does the Bible teach such a doctrine?
John 1:11-13 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
