This week we will look at the temptation of Jesus in Luke 4:1-15. As Luke records it, immediately following his baptism and the divine declaration and affirmation of Jesus being the Son of God, he is led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Here he is tempted by the devil and it is precisely this sonship which is questioned and tested. However, unlike Israel in the wilderness, Jesus is the faithful Son - resisting all temptation by the Word and the Spirit.
Jesus provides us, not only an example to follow in our own trials and temptations, but the way to the throne of grace- through the faithful Son, our great High Priest.
