Samuel heard the word of God while still a boy, and came to know the Lord who cared for Israel. At the same time, he also began to share in the sufferings that are involved in knowing and doing God's will. We will take up the story at the point where the pain of his own family life and the rejection of the nation brought him to God in prayer. By God's grace, he continued to demonstrate God's rule over the nation while they were rebelling against him.
