Three days after the death of our Lord, the day that was filled with the memory of death was turned into the day that would commemorate life for God's people for all ages. Reformation Day was a memory of the day of life, when on October 31, 1517 Martin Luther nailed the 95 Thesis to the church door, beginning the reformation of the church, and turning All Hallows Eve into the Day of Life, as it were.
In preparation for celebrating Communion, we are reminded from Paul that the Lord's Supper is: 1. A Solemn Occasion 2. A commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary's Cross 3. A communion of believers with Christ 4. Individual's confession of personal faith 5. Solemn reminder of Christ's return in glory 6. A time of sober self-examination 7. A time for seeking genuine Christian growth 8. A time for which we ought to prepare
