One would expect that because Jesus loved Mary and Martha, He hurried back to heal Lazarus. Instead, John wrote that Jesus' love for them motivated Jesus' delay. He loved them so much He was willing to do whatever it took to ultimately strengthen their faith (11:15). Why was Jesus "glad" he was not there to heal Lazarus (11:15)? It was so that the disciples might believe.
