His eyes were consuming, they had a burning aggression to them, yet at the same time they were flooded with kindness. The fire is a fearful warning to anyone who would dare rise up against the people he dearly loves. Just the sight of him is quite overpowering; John simply fell to the ground as if someone had shot him. Yet this is a protecting, comforting, jealous power, which deliberately shields and cares for those he has purchased with his very own blood. The love of God in Christ is a love that so understands your current suffering that in future, if you are his child, he will not permit you to suffer again. He will not grant you permission to be sad again. He will not permit you to grieve. He will not allow anyone to die.
God is going to bring about a beautiful and wonderful completion of the experience of salvation for his people. It will be something that you and I cannot mess up. He will ensure that. This gives me hope and courage.
Not only will he look into the eyes of every one of his children and raise his hand to wipe away their tears, while his arm and smile comfort them, but he will also fill their lives with positive delights!
Like a wave of the sea, so huge that you cannot escape it, he will tumble you in a rush of unstoppable joy.
If you are a child of God and you are hurting, take hope in this; there is a day coming when God won't let you cry!
