There are three main divisions of Christianity: Catholics, Protestants and Baptists. Why are Baptists not Protestants? This sermon, preached on Nov.1, 2009, the day after Reformation Day, answers the question. While there are many things that Baptists believe in common with Protestants, yet there are some serious differences. Here are three main areas of those differences. 1.Baptists believe in the sole authority of the Word of God
2.Baptists believe that the ordinances of baptism and communion are symbolic and are to be kept as taught in the NT
3.Baptist's beliefs regarding the New Testament Church.

Enduring Truth Thank you for standing up for the truth. I pray God will continue to bless you with boldness and clarity. Few are willing to preach "unpopular" doctrines.

Thanks for the great message Mr. Hatfield,
Thank you for this message. Without messages of this sort, many can be confused. I particularly appreciated the section on the Bible being the sole authority in matters of doctrine and practice. Sadly, this message even needs to be re-taught and brought to mind of many in Primitive Baptist churches.
I look forward to listening to some more of your sermons.

Great Sermon! Bro. Herb,
I thank the Lord for your article, your commitment to those truths and your courage to state them openly.  I pray that, under the blessing of the Lord, your message will benefit everyone who hears it. As you know, many will be a shocked who have been brain-washed to be against sound Baptist-church thinking. Tragically, a lot of them believe that our position is strictly based upon a warped view of church perpetuity. While we do strongly believe in church perpetuity, a person could write a list of Bible passages and Bible doctrines that Baptists believe which show Baptists are not Protestants. Many old Baptists from the past have plainly stated their views of the difference between Protestants and Baptists and their views of the Protestant Reformation.  Again, I thank the Lord for your message and pray it will have a wide circulation. As the Lord might bring us to mind, remember to pray for us here. I remain,
