Gavin says, "today … is St. Andrew's Eve, & in Anglican Church tradition … this day may be observed as a day of prayer for missions." And "in the Gospels our Lord forbids … 'vain & rash swearing,' saying in his Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:34, 'Swear not at all' … . And so too in the Epistles … in James 5:12 … . And "at Matthew 15:18-20, Christ uses the 3rd Commandment to represent the 1st Tablet of the Law in the form of 'blasphemies' … . And likewise in the Epistles, Colossians 3:8 saith, 'But now ye also put off all these … blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth' … . And so in its wider orbit, the principle of clean speech in the 3rd Commandment also covers other profanities in the form of language subverting the moral law, such as crude sex words contrary to the 7th Commandment. Or the 3rd & 4th Commandments, "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain" & "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy," both teach us to distinguish between the holy & profane, so that in egregious violations of these precepts, I Timothy 1:9 refers to the "unholy & profane." And one example of this is separation from a base focus on human faeces, so that Deuteronomy 23:13 & 14 saith, 'And thou … cover that which cometh from thee: therefore … be holy: … no unclean thing in thee … .' And hence crude words for bodily excretions such as human faeces are contrary to the moral principles evident in the 3rd & 4th Commandments ... . And so the 1st of 2 primary issues we are looking at … in Part 6a of profane language is an egregious violation of … the Moral Law."
