God called Timothy to a life that demanded confidence, experience, and strength. Timothy didn’t have any of those things. He was young, lacking the wisdom of those with more life experience. He was frail, lacking the stamina of healthier men. He was a bit insecure, lacking the natural boldness of a Peter or a Paul. In other words, Timothy’s life and calling were the ideal venues for God to put His enablement on display! You know, God has called each of us to a life that is bigger than us. We, like Timothy, frequently find ourselves lacking in wisdom, stamina, and courage. As believers, our hope is not in ourselves, but in Jesus. “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope.” (1 Timothy 1:1, NKJV) In this message, we begin a study of 1 Timothy with “God our Savior, Christ our hope.”
