Abraham was fixated upon obeying God's command to sacrifice Isaac & it was not until God intervened that Abraham looked up to discover God's provision: the ram caught in the thicket. We learn how necessary it is for us to live with a fixated focus upon doing God's will. As we pursue obedience to the Lord, we can be confident that He is working in providence to make provision for us. What is it that the Lord will provide? All that is necessary to prosper our faith & the fruit of obedience. Often His provision will come in the form of affliction & tribulation - those things which will stimulate our trust in Christ by disconnecting us from the things of this world which are not worthy of our confidence. We need, therefore, to develop an eschatological, age-to-come perspective on our lives so that we can perceive God's gracious provisions which call us to exercise faith & hope in Him who is coming quickly. Christ is our ultimate provision. If we live by faith, we can learn to perceive the indications that He is coming. He Lord is faithful. The Lord will provide.
