Thankfulness is a matter of life and death. Thankfulness is essential to spiritual well-being. First Thessalonians 5:18 exhorts, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Being thankful IN everything is the Biblical worldview. Despite miserable circumstances, we can be thankful in everything in a sin-filled world, in all circumstances, and in every situation regardless of the misery. Being thankful IN everything is not the same as being thankful FOR everything. I am not thankful for sin, death, injustice, murder, etc. So then, how is it possible to be thankful in everything?
