In the future, Babylon will be the Antichrist's political and economic capital. But in a day it will all come crashing down! The prophecies recorded in Isaiah 13-14 , Jeremiah 50-51, and Revelation 18 will be literally fulfilled in the 'day of the Lord.' The destruction of the city will be sudden and complete. The ruins of the city will never be used to build another city nor will the city of Babylon ever be inhabited again. According to Jeremiah 50, the armies from the north on their way to engage the Antichrist will attack and destroy the city. They will be aided by plagues from God that will cause death, mourning, and famine. The city will be destroyed for their immorality, materialism, and for shedding the blood of God's servants. But before God destroys the city, God graciously warns those living there to flee so as to avoid judgment for God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come too repentance.
