In this study we take up the subject of Biblical praying.
What do we mean by the words…..Biblical praying?
We mean praying that is regulated by Scripture.
True prayer is an act of worship.
In a general sense worship is the ascribing of worth to God.
It is the focusing of the mind upon the person and being of God.
Worship is pure adoration. It is the lifting up of our redeemed being toward God in contemplation of His holy perfections.
There are some very practical benefits to be derived from making sure that we worship God in our praying.
(1) I'm made aware of the greatness and majesty of God. He truly is a great God. This gives confidence in praying. Because of His greatness, I can ask great things.
(2) I am not able to conceal anything from God. This will affect the extent of our confession of sin.
(3) A right view of God helps to keep one's motives right
Having dealt with this very basic aspect of prayer, we now come to deal with the various dimensions of prayer.
The first that we will deal with is that of thanksgiving.
Obviously the first thing for which we should give thanks is our salvation.
(1) We should thank God for the continued work of grace that He does in our life each day.
