What connections does Paul make in order to "be ready in season and out of season." 1) The need to make a personal connection with the audience - done by speaking their language, identifying with who they are, and identifying with what they are doing. 2)The need to make the connection to Christ by recognizing God's sovereignty, our ignorance of Christ, our helplessness before Christ and the mercy of God in that though we were dead, Christ makes us alive. 3) The need to recognize the greatest obstacle for people is their need for submission to Christ. Once the gospel is presented there are only two options reject or accept. Acceptance requires submission. (for illustration read John 9 and look at response of the Sanhedrin and the blind man.)
