Everything is theological! God refuses to honor fallen pastors, false leaders and wicked wolves who take the pulpit demanding their own doctrines instead of the Apostles Doctrines. The Spiritual and Moral Character will be shown in the man's spiritual teaching ability with his own family. That is why families are such a good barometer for testing the qualifications of a man spiritually and morally. The elder is responsible for how the family home is managed. Call this Patriarchy, or Complementarianism if you wish but there is a promise of judgment in this passage. This passage is one that puts the man under judgment over every area of his home, not just his wife and kids. The man of God, from a new convert to death must be constantly aligning himself with the thinking and working of Christ and His divine doctrines. The man of God desires to be discipled and wants to be better than he is, and he knows that he has failings. This passage deals with his marriage, his discipleship and leading of his wife and children in sound doctrine. His ability to teach his children how to behave and conduct themselves in any given situation. His example of authority, How he Husbands and Fathers will determine how he leads God's Bride. What is he like with his wife? Is he faithful to her? Is he loving and understanding? Does he disciple her? Does he consider the gravity of his responsibility to lead his household well? We are going to stand before God, and give an account for how we loved and protected and discipled His Daughter. Is he a cold dictator, or does he treat his wife as his own flesh and blood partner? Does he abandon his wife for any reason? God will never leave or forsake us!
