Salvation is all of grace. That is very good news for the Christian, and very offensive to the non-Christian. People are offended when we tell them that they are too sinful to cooperate with God for salvation. They are offended when we tell them that there is no DIY plan, even if they emotionally reason that there must be. They are offended when we tell them that the only human contribution to salvation is our sin! God supplies the faith to believe and God supplies the righteousness to save! The cross exposes our own sinfulness by showing us the lengths that God had to go to in order to save us. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
