Today we will emphasize the theological theme that Christ is saving people in this church age is the realization of God's promise to save a remnant of Israel from the Babylonian exile, which is an emblem of Christians being saved out of this fallen world. Jesus Christ is leading His people on a pilgrimage from their place of bandage and exile to our heavenly Zion. It is a second but greater Exodus, even as we are saved out of this world into our promised eternal rest and everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus.
