Aim: To gain a Biblical perspective on the primacy of preaching.
Doctrine: God would have His word preached more than anything else (in the whole world). This is partly because the Lord Himself loves faithful preaching, and this is largely because everything good flows from faithful preaching.
Exegesis: The urgent need for the preached word: all immortal souls depend on its message (vv. 1-2a); there is no circumstance where (or when) it is not necessary (v. 2b); every effort should be put forth to assure its success (v. 2c).
Further application: Why the pulpit ministry is so extraordinarily important: first, because God's glory is uniquely ties to preaching; then, because the Church's (and the world's) direction is determined by preaching.
Key phrases: vv. 1a @ 2a ''I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ...Preach the word!''
