He confessed that he had been having an adulterous affair with a woman in his church for two years, hiding it from his wife and the church. He said that during that time he and this other woman thought they could serve God better if they were married, than he could serve God with his own wife. He and the woman were praying that God would take his wife, through death, so he could marry the other woman so they could serve God better together. Love doesn't do that kind of stuff. Love doesn't find joy tragedies that come upon other people.
