You have come to church this morning to hear the first message of the new year, 2024. We began our study of the gospel of John on Sunday, August 13, 2023, and we find ourselves this morning in the third chapter of John, and we will begin a two-part study of verses 22-36. If we were to simply do a cursory reading of this passage of Scripture some of you might wonder why it would take two sermons to teach through these fifteen verses? What could be so deep or complicated? After all, this passage is more about John the Baptist, and we have already studied his ministry in chapter 1, right? Yes, we learned about John the Baptist's ministry, and now we are going to examine his character; the character of a man fully committed to Jesus Christ.
