On One Hand Here are five things you can count on one hand that will help you to interact in a Christ-like fashion with your brothers and sisters in Christ. It might not be a bad idea to count them off one by one in prayer, as you enter into a fellowship or worship setting, or even a church board meeting – in fact employing them in any circumstance will be profitable. Thumb: embrace one another with the same kind of love and acceptance with which Christ has received you. Pointer: Defer to others rather than putting yourself first. Middle: Serve others by striving to meet needs and carry burdens. Ring: Set out to edify, or build others up with words of encouragement in the faith. Pinky: Resolve to walk in unity with the brethren, throwing off any unnecessary division and instead reinforcing the common call you have in the body of Christ to be consumed with God’s glory in Christ above all. Count them off one by one and seek God’s grace to help you put them into practice as a part of your sacred offering unto the Lord. Sound like a juvenile exercise? Perhaps, but are we not, after all, to be somewhat childlike in our faith?
