Noah found God's grace in the midst of a world filled with unrestrained evil, and for 120 years, he preached the righteousness of God and the coming judgment as the Lord waited patiently, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 1 Peter 3:10 says, God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. 2 Peter 2:5 says, God preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly. Noah was for the ancient world. He was the countdown to doomsday. Preserved by God even in judgment. You see all throughout the Old Testament, when God judged, He always preserved a remnant because through that remnant would come the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. In Luke 13:5 Jesus says, "unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." I can imagine those same words falling from the lips of Noah for 120 years. |
