The story of the repentant thief at Calvary gives us an example of one of the finest confessions of faith in the Bible. It should humble us that God has so mightily used one who had lived in sin his entire life, a criminal until his final hours. Rather than an example of a works-free salvation, his extremely short Christian life should be viewed as being full of good works, the inevitable result of a true faith as the instrument of saving grace. His example should provoke us to be faithful in whatever time we have.
