The main point of our passage is that true followers of Jesus Christ are to be generous. It is not simply trying to get believers to give more money in this life, but it is instructing believers to invest in the "lay away plan" for the next life. The godly, devoted believer will be marked by: contentment (totally satisfied with enough); the love of God (deep affection for our Savior); and a generous lifestyle (eager to distribute). We are to use money to benefit others and demonstrate Christ-like virtues, we are to be ready to personally distribute and always generous to those who are really in need, and we are to accumulate eternal treasure by giving away treasure on earth and taking hold of that which is life indeed. Use money, but don't let money use you.
