Not everyone believes that the Bible is the revealed Word of God, true and without errors. The Greeks were fascinated with the wisdom of the day. The Gospel, however, is the simple, straight-forward preaching of Christ crucified. The Gospel itself is the power of God to convert people and does not need the assistance of the world's wisdom. Paul gives these great truths in this section: 1. This wisdom of God is only understood and appreciated by those who are mature, verse 6a 2. This wisdom conflicts with the world's wisdom, verse 6b 3. This wisdom is a mystery hidden in the past, but now finally revealed, verse 7a 4. This wisdom has been eternally predestined for our glory, verse 7b. 5. This wisdom has never been grasped by the rulers of this age, verses 8-9
