This message was given by Pastor Jonathan Stobbs as he continued his evening series in the book of 1 Samuel. Is God sovereign? Is He God alone? In this message, the Bible tells us of how the great God of heaven subdues Dagon, one of the gods of the Philistines. He does so that leaves the Philistines in no doubt that He is God alone, and yet they still harden their hearts towards Him. Pastor Stobbs speaks of how God does not need man's justification or support, He is God, and sufficient wholly in Himself. Even when the Philistines test God, and rig the test, God shows His supremacy and sovereignty as well as His mercy. Despite their testing of Him, He is still merciful to them to show that He is God, and yet they do not heed Him, or come to Him. They will not repent, they will not turn, hardened. In this message we see again a reflection of the glorious majesty and power of God, and the depravity of man.
