The Series: KNOWING JESUS.If you were asked to introduce Jesus to someone who had never heard of him, who knew nothing about him, what would you tell them?Who is Jesus? HE IS THE MIRACLE OPERATIVE But I want you to understand something about the nature of miracles — because we sometimes wonder, if God is a miracle-working God, why doesn't he just solve all of our problems and make everything as easy as we think we would like for it be.We need to understand this about miracles: They all have a pretty short lifespan. They only last for a little while. Think about it. Everyone that Jesus healed during his time on earth — they all eventually died, didn't they? Jesus calmed the storm at sea, but it wasn't the last storm ever, was it? There were other storms on the way. Jesus fed the 5000 one day and the 4000 another day, and it was a tremendous miracle, but these people weren't fed for a lifetime. The next day they were hungry again. And so, in this sense, the miracles we experience have a pretty short life span. We may see our need as the most urgent thing ever, but even when that need is met through God's generous intervention, another need soon comes along. Miracles aren't meant to last forever — because nothing in this life is meant to last forever. That's why Jesus said in John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto yo (John 6:27 KJV) We often see life only in terms of the present moment, only in terms of what is urgent today: I need this bill paid. I need to be healed. Help in my marriage. I need a job.Our challenge then, is to learn to see life from his perspective.
