King David had to flee for his life from his own son. He nearly loses the kingdom. He has lost a son. Now--as if to add insult to injury--a relative of Bathsheba comes to curse King David. David does something commendable and in humility refuses to kill Shimei because he recognizes that there may still be areas in his life of which he needs to repent. But Jesus is a better king. He was also cursed with our sins though he truly was innocent. And He paid the price for our sins. Richard Rohlin brings out the poignant similarities and start contrasts between David and the Son of God who one day will sit on the throne of David. Richard Rohlin is the worship pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas in Irving, TX -- a family integrated Baptist Church in the Baptist Missionary Association (BMA).
