A Christian is essentially a disciple. A disciple is one who lives with Jesus. Yet Jesus informed His disciples that He would soon be departing. How could they continue to be His disciples if He was not with them? Jesus explains the ministry of the Holy Spirit who comes not only to be with us, but to be in us. As we express our love for Jesus by obeying His commands, He promises to communicate His love to us & to disclose Himself, enveloping us with the same love that the Father has for Jesus Himself! It is to our advantage that Jesus has now risen & is exalted to the throne of God, for He has given us His Spirit with whom we now live & thus, we live with Jesus. We live in the Spirit, as we await our Lord's return when His prayer in Jn 17:24 will be fully answered: 'Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold My glory which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world.' We live with Jesus now by virtue of His Spirit & we will live with Jesus forever & behold His glory.
