A summary of John's Ministry
With the arrival of John the Baptist, redemptive history is ready to pivot into the promised age of the Messiah. Luke informs us of the scene of his minstry & then summarizes his labors: "preaching a baptism". Both his words & his rite communicated the necessity of repentance in order to share in the promised forgiveness of sin to be granted by the Messiah. Although John's baptism is no longer administered today, his message is yet relevant. We need to respond with faith & repentance to the announcement of grace given to us in Jesus Christ.
