Confidence After We Fail. Genesis 16:1-5; 17:1-9 Bible Studies for Life Sunday school. The Point is to Trust God to redeem your failures. We have a tendency to take matters into our own hands instead of relying on God. As a result, we make serious mistakes. Furthermore, we may sin against God. To others, our mistakes or lack of ability may look like weakness, inadequacy, or failure. None of those things is outside the reach of God. Regardless of what we have done, we are never beyond His love and grace to forgive, restore, redeem. When we turn to God and trust Him, He brings us into an incredible relationship with Him based on grace. He will still work in our lives as we follow Him.The dilemma continued to be real for Abram and Sarai. Abram was troubled that he had no heir, even though God promised that he would. Sarai was distressed because she was not able to bear the heir her husband desired. Genesis 15 recorded Abram's encounter with the Lord over this issue—and even hinted at a solution, which God rejected. Chapters 16:1-5 describes another option that Sarai and Abram thought would be a remedy to their problem. Theirs was a human solution that proved to be inadequate. In looking at those verses, we will identify the plan 10and the failure that came from it.Chapter 17 is primarily a reaffirmation of the Lord's covenant with Abram. With what has transpired at the hands of Abram, Sarai, and the resulting tension between them, perhaps even they wondered if the promises of the Lord were still true and applicable to them. On the other hand, had the Lord given up on them and moved on? No, God still had a plan; and it still included them.
