May it be suggested if the complex make up of our spiritual being involves 1. the soul: seat of existence, awareness, feeling and desires. 2. the spirit: life-giving source, (‘the dust return to the earth as it was: the spirit shall return unto God who gave it’ Eccl. 12:7) and having to do with God’s dealings in us, (‘The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly’ Proverbs 20:27), 3. the mind: intellect, the seat of thinking and reasoning powers, 4. the will: decision making, and 5. the conscience: the inner alerting devise.
