If Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church then their trusting, truthful and transparent relationship with their wife will mirror that of Christ's to the church. Trust – the church has not earned the trust of Christ. She has abused both her gifts and her callings. She has not accurately represented her savior nor been pure in doctrine and conduct. She has failed both corporately and individually. Yet despite all this Christ still loves the church. The church is still entrusted with her callings, her gifts and her position as the Bride of Christ. Romans 11:29 clearly states that our “gifts and callings are irrevocable”. Trust in the world is earned. The trust of Christ to His bride the church is bestowed. Even so, husbands are to bestow trust on to and on their wives as an act of love, unearned and perhaps undeserved. It is the height of hypocrisy to demand from Christ undeserved trust while withholding this same love, this same trust from your wife. Truthful – Christ has not withheld the Truth from His church. He has freely assured us of the security of our salvation, not fearing the abuse this may bring. We too as husbands must be truthful to our wives, we must be willing to assure them of our unconditional love, of our unwillingness to ever desert them irrespective of their behavior, without fear of the abuse this may bring.
