Song written about the parable of the talents and the parable of the 10 pounds. Each servant received different talents in Matthew's rendition of the parable, and in Luke 19:12-26 they all receive the same amount one pound. The application is two sides of the same coin. On one hand we all have different abilities and gifts represented by the talents, but on the other we all receive the same thing represented by the one pound. We all have only one life. We are held accountable to invest that life for God. The pound and talent represents our lives and gifts and abilities. We are all given one life to invest for our Lord. Therefore we all have the same thing to invest. We only have one life to give. So the song was written illustrating that truth. We all can give the same thing to God our lives. We only have one life to give, so we all receive one pound. The song encourages us all to do our best to invest our lives and gifts and assets for God. All we have is given to us by God let us invest our lives for God!
