Ezekiel was called to proclaim God's judgment once again, this time it was against idolatry. God confronted the children of Israel's syncretism: they had combined different beliefs and added pagan gods to Yahweh. They had become an adulterous people.
Why did God judge their idolatry? So that they will know that He is the Lord.
Idolatry is a mistrust of God. The adulterous action of idolatry impairs judgment, shows a lack of love, breaks trust, and demonstrates unfaithfulness.
In our day and time, it's easy for us to also get caught up in idolatry in subtle ways. What dominates your thought life? What do you serve?
Our God hates idolatry because He is a jealous God. He will judge against idolatry so that we will know that He is the Lord.
