Well, if you still have your bibles open to the verses that were just read for us from 2 Timothy chapter 3. Paul tells us in verse 1;
…that in the last days perilous times will come:
And then in verses 2 through 4 he proceeds to give us a description of what this time will look like, and more so with the state of men and the worldly fruits they will bear. For he goes on to say from verse 2;
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
And if you look around at our world today… not only do I think society has come to the point as to how Paul describes man with these verses, but that our society is actively cultivating and promoting the ideology of that last point… in men being lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. That all kinds of desires, passions, and sensual appetites are promoted and fully endorsed by parts of our society. |
