The elders have decided to start the new year with a four part series covering the mission of Grace Bible Church based upon the statement we introduced at the annual business meeting last month. The purpose of the mission statement is to summarize our understanding of what Scripture teaches concerning our purpose as a church. This gives us a framework by which to evaluate and plan our ministry efforts so that we can focus on what matters most.
This week we will focus on our corporate worship. While all people owe God worship (Romans 1:20-21 Matthew 4:10), we as the church are particularly called to praise and honor Him.
Not all worship is acceptable to God, however. Jesus states in John 4 that God seeks worshipers who worship Him in spirit and in truth. Our worship is God centered and is based upon the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. God has revealed in Scripture the elements which should be included in our worship. We are not free to add or subtract from what He requires. He also wants us to worship wholeheartedly, not merely with our lips, but with joy and enthusiasm.
Grace Bible Church seeks to offer a full meal of worship on the Lord's day as we emphasize the ministry of the Word in the morning and the Lord's Supper and corporate prayer in the evening. We hope that you will come prepared to worship the Lord both in the morning and evening worship services.
