God had a job for Moses to do. God said I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. Now such a proposal shocked Moses. Moses felt utterly unworthy for that task and he began to make excuses. But the Lord wanted to reassure his faltering servant. He wanted him to be courageous and bold and to step out in the power of God. So what did the Lord do to encourage Moses? He gave him three signs. These were to be three signs that Moses was indeed coming with the power and with the blessing of Almighty God. It was by these three signs that Moses was to prove his authenticity as a servant of God and to demonstrate to the skeptical people of God and to the heathen that he was speaking with the authority of God. We too need authority in the face of a skeptical world and so it is interesting to see the signs that God gave Moses to attest his ministry.
