In the last section (Galatians 4:1-7), Paul concludes that Old Testament Israel has not been eliminated or replaced in God's plan. Rather, Israel has "grown up". Like a young boy who was at one time under the oversight of a governor, but who now has grown up to be appointed a full son and heir of all the father has; even so Israel is now "grown up" so that all who are in Israel are children of God and heirs of all He possesses. Tonight, Paul shifts his focus to those Gentile Christians in Galatia, showing that to turn to the Old Testament Law - the Old Covenant made through Moses - as a means of trying to please God creates a religion that is essentially no different than what they used to practice when they were pagan idolaters. As a result, Paul is concerned that they may not understand grace at all.
