Jacob has just witnessed in a dream the ladder that reached from Heaven to earth. With his countenance revived he providentially arrives in Haran at the well and meets the love of his life Rachael. But, before he marries her, he must serve Laban seven years as a servant. On the wedding night uncle Laban deceives him by giving Jacob the older sister Leah instead of his beloved Rachael. The deceiver is deceived himself! How ironic, Jacob deceived his older brother, and was deceived by an older sister! He must serve Laban another seven years before he's able to marry Rachael. Jacob had to go down the rough road of sanctification to learn a godly lesson. Jacob does learn that lesson, because the text says "Then Jacob did so." He didn't complain at that point but learned the lesson and served another seven years. In the end Rachael was given to him as his bride. Brethren there are many godly lessons to learn from this text, we encourage you to listen and Lord willing learn from Genesis chapter 29:1-30.
