The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luke 18:27.
1. THE THINGS WHICH ARE IMPOSSIBLE WITH MEN. Luke 1:34; John 3:7; Matthew 26:33. When a man is determined (“So then with my mind I myself serve the law of God”) to do the will of God, God will give that man the power to obey the will of God (cf. John 5:14; 8:11; I Peter 1:15, 16; I John 2:1).
Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”
2. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. Isaiah 45:2; Matthew 5:48; Hebrews 11. In order to let God work in our lives we have to come to the point of complete helplessness. God is omnipotent. God is sovereign. But man is weak and hopeless and helpless.
Galatians 4:6-7. “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
3. GOD WORKS IN AND THROUGH MEN. Ephesians 3:20; Romans 12:1-2; Romans 5:20.
In Luke 18 we have the interesting conversation between our Lord and the rich young ruler (Luke 18:18-25). After the conversation, “they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?” (18:26).
The flesh and the self-life must be conquered. There must be an absolute surrender to the will of God. Then God starts working in us and through us. Ephesians 3:16-19.
Genesis 18:14 says, “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?”
