Elijah, after a glorious victory against the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, fled to Mount Sinai to escape the wicked queen, Jezebel. It was a time of self-pity and personal defeat. The problem was that Elijah did not understand the issue. It was not about Elijah, but the will and purpose of God. Elijah was God's servant who was not privy to all God was doing in his war against Ahab and Jezebel. Here is a lesson that all followers of Christ must understand. When we fall into self-pity and despair, we need to hear Him say to us, "What are you doing here?"
