Jesus has a story about tending a garden – more specifically, a vineyard. Join me as in reading John 15:1-11. This is Jesus' "Allegory of the Vineyard." The lesson here is simple: abiding in Jesus is the key to the Christian life. The context is immediately after Jesus and His disciples have shared the Last Supper and His Upper Room Discourse (chap 13&14). It's been a long and challenging night; now the cross is less than 12 hours away. So as we leave chapter 14 and enter chapter 15 we read: "I do exactly as the Father commanded me. Get up, let us go from here (14:31)".
Just as Jesus is about to go away, He teaches His disciples to stay close! 1. The allegory (vv.1-6). 2. The application (vv.7-11).
