For several weeks we have been addressing what the Bible says about corporate worship. This week we will talk about our personal acknowledgement of God through daily Bible reading and prayer. In this sermon I preach about our need to regularly read and meditate on Scripture.
In the evening service sermon, I encourage us from God’s word in our personal times of prayer.
As a new year begins I hope that many of you will plan to read the Scriptures and set aside time for prayer on a daily basis.
Realizing that most New Year’s resolutions are broken, we must enter into this commitment with a sense of total dependence upon God, for without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Furthermore, this is not merely a discipline. Nor is it meant to be a pursuit of self-righteous self-improvement. Rather, it is because we love God that we want to listen to Him and speak with Him every day. He is worthy!
