We begin to address in this week’s sermon a very important matter, one that should be a great concern for every one of us. The Holy Scriptures tell us that we should be very earnest and put forth great effort to assure ourselves that God has chosen us and called us unto salvation. Peter wrote, “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall...” (2 Pet. 1:10). This command leads to a question that each of us should be able to answer, “How may I know that I am one of God’s elect?” We may find an answer to this question in our study of 1 Thessalonians 1:4-10, which we will address today and next Lord’s Day, Lord willing.
