In Isaiah 44-45 God condemns idolatry and asks the idols to tell Him (Jehovah) how they created the world; retell to Him the history of the world; and moreover, tell Him and everyone else what will happen in the future. But they cannot because they are not God,, alone. He is God alone, and there is no other God besides Him. Then God prophecies through Isaiah about a man who will rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple (which were not in ruins in Isaiah's time); who will be a shepherd and will be given the name, Cyrus (which comes from Cyro meaning bitch in Persian). 170 odd years later God raised up Cyrus, who was the bastard son of the King of Persia, raised in exile by herdsmen, who becomes ruler in Medo-Persia and the man who rebuilds Jerusalem and the Temple after the Babylonian captivity ends. We tell this remarkable story in this recording. If you want to hear one of the most remarkable, yet virtually untold, stories of the Bible, listen to today's lesson.
